Interviews      Khold - via mail 24.07.2004

Hello and welcome to this interview for the Rising Darkness Magazine. It's now the second time that I have the pleasure to do an interview with you. The first time used to be in Munich when you were on Tour with Satyricon!

Your new album "Mørke Gravers Kammer" is out now for a while! So for me it is absolutely the logical follow up to the "Phantom" album. What would you say? Are you completely satisfied with the album? In my opinion it is a lot better than "Phantom", more complex although "Phantom was a really great album!

Khold :
Yes, we are satisfied with the album. For us its just to make new songs. If the song is good we keep it. We don`t think to much about that it has to be much better than Phantom. I also think there is a lot of great songs on Phantom to. I agree the new album is more varied. Also we got the bass sound on the level we wanted it.

As on each Khold album again there is a picture from Gard on the cover! In my opinion it is very interesting because it differs very much from standard Black Metal covers. How did you come on that idea? Is it something like a distinctive mark to the band?

Khold :
It has become a trademark for the band I guess. For the artwork on the album, we like to use the photos we have taken. The look of Gard is the best suitable cover.

This time you changed your label from Satyrs Moonfog to Candelight! How did it come to that change, what were the reasons for this?

Khold :
Candlelight wanted to release our album, so we all 3 got to an agreement. For us it was a step up, so we are satisfied. And for the first time now we have an official US release.

Are you than satisfied with the work of Candellight till now?

Khold :
Its early to say, but so far it looks ok.

As you told me in our last interview your lyrics on "Phantom" used to be all about dark and the myths of Norway! What about the lyrics on "Mørke Gravers Kammer"? Again about the same themes?

Khold :
Now its more about death. All your life you know death will reach you one day. Leave you cold, pale and empty. The only sure thing in life is death.

There used to be a line-up change on your actual album as far as I know! So can you introduce your new bass player to our readers and tell us something about the reasons for the change?

Khold :
Our first bassplayer had to go and on Phantom we used a session for that album. Now we got a permanent bassplayer in Grimd. We have know him since we were 7-8 years old. Me, Gard and Grimd grew up together. Rinn also lived near, we started playing with him in 1991. This year you played again on the Inferno festival in Oslo! If I remember right you used to be the first band on the whole festival last year! What about this year? Did you have a better position to play and how did it work this year?

Khold :
We didnt play last year, it was in 2001. We was the first band ever on the Inferno Festival. This year we played later in the line up. The crowd was into it, so I guess it was ok.

If I start reading on your homepage I have to find out that there are nearly no informations about you, the guys behind Khold! Am I right that you prefer to let your music talk, that your music is the more important thing for you?

Khold :
The music is our main focus and I guess and hope that is the main thing for the people that are into Khold also. There could be some more info and stuff on our website. Maybe it will be some more in the future.

Alright! Let me thank you again for your time and the Interview! Mange tak for eur tid og ha de bra!
